Bogucki's study of the earliest farming societies in Europe brought him into the more general question of the transition from hunting and gathering to agriculture around the world.   This is a complex subject about which a considerable amount of data is now available.   Bogucki keeps track of the literature on complex hunter-gatherers and early farming, and he has written several overviews.     See Bogucki 1999 and Bogucki 2019 under Selected Publications.
